Project Intro

The PPOC at Boston Children’s Hospital engaged MAeHC for assistance with the selection of an EHR and PMS vendor. PPOC specifically wished to migrate all 250 physicians and 80 practices to a single vendor platform that could both meet the needs of pediatricians and could easily interoperate with Boston Children’s Hospital and the other high priority information trading partners of the practices. MAeHC conducted extensive interviews with key members of the PPOC, Boston Children’s Hospital and CHICO (Boston Children’s ACO) representing clinical care, financial management, quality improvement, care management, and practice management to define end goals and prioritize desired system functionality. MAeHC conducted background research on specific functionality required of pediatricians. MAeHC converted findings from the interviews and background research into functional requirements, drafted a vendor request for proposal, and released it to EHR vendors. MAeHC developed a scoring tool, trained a scoring committee, and facilitated down-selection of leading vendors for further vetting. MAeHC worked with PPOC to organize 4 days of vendor demos and hands-on sessions with top 3 finalists followed by a 1 day finalist workshop with the top 2 finalists. MAeHC facilitated multiple sessions with a Steering Committee resulting in a vendor recommendation to the PPOC Board of Directors.
