Workforce Development and Training

Educational programs for healthcare professionals must be agile and adaptable. The Massachusetts eHealth Collaborative (MAeHC) team has the demonstrated ability to synthesize content, evaluate learning delivery methods and develop curricula that meets the needs of diverse audiences. Education and training programs are offered for credit as well as non-credit. MAeHC partners with professional associations, higher education, federal programs as well as local and national healthcare organizations to deliver programming including Massachusetts Medical Society, New Hampshire Medical Society, ONC, and state-wide health and human service organizations in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York and Rhode Island.

Our Technical Assistance approach adapts to the ever-changing needs in healthcare. We design curricula to develop, enhance, assist, and evaluate best practices and clearly defined goals. Training program formats include:

  • Peer Learning Networks gather like-minded individuals together for training and analysis of workflows, healthcare barriers, care coordination techniques, and patient engagement.
  • Communities of Practice bring multi-disciplinary healthcare organizations, including hospitals, community health systems, behavioral health, long term care, and rural health together for focused learning sessions with common goal of creating safe and effective care across the care continuum.
  • Interactive online learning/web-based programming to provide participants with the flexibility to learn and collaborate without geographic limitations.
  • Onsite education to bring training directly to the source. Taught by Subject Matter Experts who develop clearly defined objectives. Lessons are topic specific, comprehensive, and customizable.

Example Project:

The MAeHC team can assist organizations with setting up a formal training schedule and process for all levels of staff.  We can assess the current training schedule and identify gaps necessary to cover the domains of population health, self-management/self-support, chronic and acute conditions, quality improvement, competency checks.  Our team can provide materials and assist with identifying SMEs within an organization, as well as outside the organization, to complete trainings and provide comprehensive education to build staff confidence and understanding of organization processes and evidence-based guidelines for care.
